Shelby McCaw is a Family Mediator at Family TLC, and an associate family mediator through the Ontario Association of Family Mediation. She was trained in the accredited family mediation certificate program at York University and completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honors) in Psychology from Trent University. Shelby has trained as a mediator using a Child-focused lens and an Interest-Based style of mediation.
Shelby is a passionate, empathetic, and respectful individual who listens carefully and appreciates the humanity within separation. Previous clients and mentors have commented on her intuitive ability to provide a safe environment to share their perspectives in their separation. She is dedicated to supporting families and providing a comfortable and team-oriented process to help find solutions that work for families in a timely and efficient manner.
We recognize the court system increases conflict, expenses families and can take an extended amount of time. These factors can negatively impact individual well-being and the children in this process. With this, Shelby is eager to take the role of a neutral support to facilitate the agreements for a parenting plan that focuses on what is best for your children. She understands the difficulties in navigating the change in family dynamics from separation and guides families in improving their communication and co-parenting cooperation. Shelby supports an out-of-court process to equip parents with tools to foster success in their next chapter.
