Rachel Hilton is a registered Social Worker at Family TLC. With a graduate degree in Social Work from the University of Windsor, an undergraduate degree in Social Work from York University, & a Community and Justice Services diploma from Sheridan, Rachel is passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to improving their lives. Rachel is also registered with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Worker (OCSWSSW) & with the Ontario Association of Social Worker (OASW).

She brings to the Family TLC team a plethora of lived experiences as she identifies with the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Her work is rooted in empathically accompanying folks in identifying their existing skills, setting goals, and develop strategies, as she believes folks join us for therapy with most of the skills already needed for growth, healing, and healthy development. Her vibrant enthusiasm, trustworthiness and openness contribute to a safe environment that holds space for folks to discover and develop into the best versions of themselves.

Rachel works with children, teens, and adult individuals to discover their strengths and supports with creating and maintaining helpful thinking patterns and healthy behavioural habits. These strategies help to address (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, stress, post-traumatic stress, anger management, substance use, eating disorders, self-harm, grief, self-esteem, and self-image.

Rachel offers several therapy techniques which include child-centred play, art, behavioural (cognitive behaviour [CBT]), emotional-focused, narrative therapy, and mindfulness to support children, teens, and adult individuals to manage difficult emotions and mental health concerns while nurturing growth, development, and healing.

Additionally, Rachel believes that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our physical bodies and offers compassionate and body-positive support to those struggling with disordered eating and building healthy relationships with food and body to support folks in reclaiming health, cultivating self-love, and practicing intuitive self-care.

Rachel values the opportunity to participate collaboratively on your journey.
