Olivia Stewart is a student intern at Family TLC. She is in the process of completing a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Olivia holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She is also a recreation therapist, having completed a post-graduate certificate in Therapeutic Recreation from Georgian College.
Olivia has worked with a variety of populations in an assortment of positions, including:
- providing intensive behavior intervention (IBI) therapy for children with autism
- direct community crisis support for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit young adults who have severe mental health, addictions, and dual diagnoses
- recreation therapy and Montessori practices for older adults with dementia and support for their families
Olivia’s practice is informed by cognitive behavior therapy, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness, while encompassing a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach. She is eager to help youth and adults overcome anxiety, depression, stress, relational problems, grief and loss, while providing a safe and caring environment for exploring one’s self. With values rooted in self-acceptance and compassion, she strives to help people discover and connect to their life’s purpose and make their own decisions to create a healthy, well-formed identity.
In her spare time, Olivia enjoys spending time in nature with her dog and partner, bird watching, and reading. She is excited to be a part of FamilyTLC, and looks forward to learning and growing.
