Melanie Solomon is a Social Worker at Family TLC. She is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She holds a Masters of Social Work and a Bachelors of Social Work, both from York University. Melanie is enthusiastic, dedicated and deeply passionate about supporting individuals throughout all stages of their mental health journey.
Melanie has had the privilege of working with children, families and individuals from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent individuals and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. She is strongly committed to providing strengths-based services through various modalities, including trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practices, through traditional counselling as well as play therapy techniques. Melanie’s work focuses on helping individuals to regulate their nervous systems and better understand their emotions by drawing on the Internal Family Systems and Polyvagal theories. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals to navigate the challenges associated with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and addressing behavioural concerns.
Melanie’s approach is centered on understanding and addressing the unique needs of each individual, and she thrives on creating flexible and supportive environments that promote empathy, resilience and growth. She strives to help individuals feel safe, heard, and valued in therapy sessions.
Melanie is a fun-loving individual with a passion for music, and she loves to play various instruments in her spare time. She also enjoys crocheting, watching Formula 1, and is happiest when sitting on the beach with a good book. Melanie is continually inspired by the strength and resilience of the individuals and communities she works with, and is dedicated to contributing positively to their journeys.
