Lindsay Alfaro is a therapist at Family TLC. She is a Registered Social Worker and holds a Master of Social Work with a clinical focus from the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Lindsay is originally from Calgary, Alberta where she completed her Bachelors in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies at the University of Calgary. While completing her undergraduate degree, Lindsay gained experience-supporting children with developmental disabilities, severe Autism Spectrum Disorder, and individuals of all ages with Traumatic Brain Injuries.
While completing her MSW, Lindsay was a student clinician and the student coordinator of the UBC Interprofessional Clinic, which is a training clinic for graduate student’s that provides services to children and families with severe mental health or mental illness. Through the clinic, Lindsay gained intense training and supervision in developing her clinical skills and style. Lindsay’s practice is oriented in multiple therapeutic frameworks including: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma- Informed Practice, Family Therapy, Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Play Therapy.
Lindsay also has experience through supporting the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus’ School of Social Work as the Field Education Coordinator, where she enhanced her business and program development skills, as well as leadership and management skills. Lindsay provided direct support, supervision, and mentorship to graduate level social work students and field instructors throughout the completion of their required practicum.
Lindsay is excited to bring a creative mindset and approach that is informed by evidence based practices. While Lindsay’s experience has primarily been with children, youth, and parents, she is excited to expand her knowledge and skill set through also supporting adults and couples in a community that is new to her. Lindsay is excited to be a part of the Family TLC team and to seize the opportunity to return to clinical practice.
