We admire those who can be confident and determined, but also self-aware and capable of demonstrating humility.
I was nervous to get into private practice because I knew there was potential for isolation and a risk. I also wanted supervision and to be a part of a team with similar values. I found it hard to imagine building a business alone and being a therapist.
Knowing I wanted to be a private practitioner, I reached out to my colleagues for some guidance to move forward in my career. One of my colleagues suggested Family TLC, as they are a counselling agency with a 1 year training program specific to private practice. This program is designed to mitigate risk, ensure ethical practice, focus on professional development, as well as prevent burn out. I applied and went through a three step process that allowed me to see if Family TLC was a good fit for me. This process gave me the friendly opportunity to really demonstrate my skills and passion for making lives better.
Now, I am proud to say I am a strong and confident therapist with Family TLC. I work with dedicated and knowledgeable professionals that expand on my ideas and support my opportunities. Not only are we making lives better for clients, we are doing it for each other and the community.
